One-third of the world’s population lacks access to healthcare. Ayurveda and other traditional systems have great potential to address this lacuna. According to WHO, the traditional medicines meets the need of primary healthcare over 80 per cent of the rural population in India. Traditional medicines have sustained humankind over thousands of years. When it comes to the quality of Ayurvedic medicines and of other healthcare systems in India, a lot of emphasis is to be placed on ensuring the quality and efficacy in terms of the responsibility to the profession and to the patients. Quality standards provide statistically to the product have to be validated scientifically for the practitioners to have credibility and patients to have confidence.
