Increased fine to be levied on fake Ayurveda, Unani practitioners in Bangalore

According to the new regulations being implemented for Ayurvedic and Unani Practitioners, a fine of Rs 25,000 would be levied on fake Ayurveda, Unani practitioners in State if caught for the first time, on getting caught the second time, the fine would be Rs 2.5 lakh with an imprisonment of one year and repeated offenders will be fined with an amount of Rs 5 lakh.

It is a must for all Ayurvedic, naturopathy, Sidda and Unani practitioners to get registered under the bio-metric system and the procedure has been made online. This registration is to put a check on the rising number of fake doctors in the state. The Ayurveda and Unani Doctors Association had conducted raid on 2,896 practitioners in the State, of which, case has been registered against 226 practitioners. The traditional healers are exempted from registration and that they can continue with their practice as they have inherited from their ancestors.
