The Human Resource Development Ministry (MHRD), through National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), will be organising Yoga Olympiad for school children so as to promote yoga in school curriculum and transaction.

The National Curriculum Framework 2005(NCF-2005) highlighted yoga as an essential component which contribute to the physical, social, emotional and mental development of a child.

It will be held from June 18 to 20 and the closing ceremony will be on June 21 on International Yoga Day. An award ceremony will also be held, which will be attended by HRD Minister Smriti Irani. Participants’ performance will be evaluated by a jury based on the basis of set assessment criteria. The children may be assessed based on the practical performance of various yogic activities.
