A delegation of All J&K Ayurvedic Congress (AJKAC) met Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat, and submitted him a memorandum of demands concerning ISM sector in the State. They apprised the Minister of lack of proper infrastructure in the department and demanded streamlining of the department. The other demands raised by the delegation were immediate bifurcation of the present level directorate and subsequent establishment of provincial directorates for Ayurveda and Unani in the light of recommendation of State Finance Commission, Sanctioning of administrative staff for newly created eight districts, regularization of nearly 75 non-sanctioned Ayush institutions opened during last four decades, sanctioning of non-gazetted staff for 45 institutions being managed single handedly just with the help of Medical Officers since last 34 years. The demands like sanctioning of two posts of B grade specialists for each district in order to provide specialist expertise to ailing masses, sanctioning of proper staff for various schemes including Ayush units in various Allopathic institutions, Panchakarma and Ksharsutra units in Ayurvedic Hospital and re-designation of Assistant District Medical Officers and Assistant Controller Stores as District Medical Officers and Controller Stores, respectively also featured in the meeting. The Minister assured the delegation that necessary initiative will be undertaken in due course of time in order to settle the long pending demands of Ayurvedic professionals.
