NIN officials running pillar to post to get land for AYUSH from state government. The process of acquiring land for setting up the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) is stuck in red tapism in Maharashtra.

Six years ago when the ministry of health and family welfare planned to set up the state’s first degree college in Yoga and Naturopathy along with a hospital on a 25 acre land in Kondhwa, Maharashtra. As the land belongs to the state health ministry, the officials of the Central government affiliated National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN) have been running pillar to post to get the land from the state counterparts. If sanctioned, it would be the first such medical college for the state. There is a great scope for the development in Yoga & Naturopathy research in Maharashtra and people from international community are turning towards such therapies with a lot of interest.

The cost of the land was close to Rs 6 crore at that time and the department of AYUSH was ready to pay. However, the process did not speed up. As per the current evaluation, the cost of the land is Rs 8 crore. Meeting the bureaucrats and the officials of the revenue ministry and even the collector office are carried to expedite the process. In every state, the college is affiliated to the respective medical university. In Maharashtra, it would be affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik and their academic advisory board will design the syllabus.
