An APPG on Indian Traditional Sciences established for the first time in UK
The founder President, Dr. Shantha Godagama and Secretary, Dr. Amarjeet Bhamra of the Ayurvedic Medical Association – UK, initiated the first-ever All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Ayurveda in the presence of nearly one hundred participants at the House of Lords in the UK in the month of July.
Twenty five Members of Parliament and 15 Lords signed to join the Group. Lord Patel of Blackburn was elected first Chairman. According to British parliamentary rules, to form an APPG, there should be signatures of a minimum of 23 MPs. More than 35 MPs have already signed to join the Ayurveda All Party Parliamentary Group.
The All Party Parliamentary Group will consolidate all of India’s Traditional Sciences (Ayurveda, Ghandharav, Jyotish, Siddha, Unani, Vastu, Yoga etc.) and contribute towards the development of policies to support the acceptance, propagation and legitimization of these ancient Sciences in the UK.
