5 Cr to establish a national facility for toxicological studies of Indian system of medicine
Puducherry/New Delhi. Department of Science and Technology has sanctioned 4.98 crore grant to Pondichery University to establish national facility for toxological studies of Indian system of medicine drugs. This is the fund against a proposal pushed by Biotechnology department of the university. Prof. Vasanthi of Biotechnology submitted the proposal to DST (Department of Science and Technology) and DST accepted it. Now, for a period of 3 years, fund will be made avilable to establish a high level facility where preclinical studies to test Ayush drugs will be undertaken.
According to Times news Network, Pondicherry University VC Gurmeet Singh has assured that a seperate building will be allocated for the project. This facility will be highly useful for industries, organizations and institutes in south part of India. “This will be a great help in the field of regulatory toxicology and analytical testing of Ayush Drugs,” a Senior Ayurveda expert in Bangalore told Ayurved Sutra.
