Ayush Minister Naik stable after surgery
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that condition of Union Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik had stabilised after two orthopaedic operations. News agency UNI reported,Mr Naik was injured in a road accident in Karnataka late on Monday.
Speaking to reporters after meeting Mr Naik at coronary care unit of Goa Medical College and Hospital, the Chief Minister said,”I have personally met Bhau (Naik). His condition is stable now. The orthopaedic surgeries conducted on him are successful,”
The Chief Minister said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh would be arriving later on Tuesday to meet Mr Naik.
“We will be taking a call on whether we need an expert opinion. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be taking a review meeting with doctors later today,” he said.
Mr Naik was injured in a road accident in Karnataka late on Monday. His wife Vijaya and personal secretary Deepak Ghume had succumbed to injuries. His driver and a personal security officer are undergoing treatment at the GMC, located near the city.
Dr Sawant said after Mr Naik was rushed to GMC from the accident site in Yellapur in Karnataka, two surgeries were conducted.
“The operations started at around 2:30 am and lasted till around 7 am. He is now under sedation. He is responding well to treatment,” the Chief Minister said.
MR Naik is a fifth term MP from North Goa. He has also served as State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
