Ayurveda Practitioners Seek Support
Kerala Ayurveda Parambarya Vaidyasangham (KAPVS) district committee has expressed discontent over the government’s negligent attitude towards those in the field of traditional ayurveda.
The committee has demanded that the government provide `1,000 as pension for ayurveda ‘gurus’ aged 60 and above, free education for their children till graduation, regulation of prices of ayurvedic medicines and inclusion of delegates from KAPVS in the government’s upcoming Kerala Clinical Establishment Council. A memorandum in this regard has been submitted before the Chief Minister and the Health Minister. Ayurveda gurus who are accepted by the society should be given license by local bodies so as to spread the virtues of ayurveda to the new generation and continue treatment in their traditional manner.
