The executive council in the month of June approved the creation of Advanced Centre of Traditional and Genomic Medicine, by renaming and upgradation of the Centre of Psychosomatic and Biofeedback Medicine for the promotion of Indian system of medicine. The newly created Advanced Centre of Traditional and Genomic Medicine was inspected by BHU VC Lalji Singh and other faculty members.

Global attention has been focused towards utilization of experience-based traditional medicine for the prevention and management of neurodegenerative disorder, type II diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome and heart diseases. Since India has a rich tradition of Ayurvedic and Siddha system of medicine, many multinational companies are trying to exploit it by patenting and commercializing it into the global market. In an action to protect the rich national heritage by providing scientific basis, a collaborative agreement was signed by four organizations, including Genome Foundation. The Genome Foundation has agreed to provide investigative facilities to BHU for completion of the project.issue 3 web58 - BHU plans to promote Indian system of traditional medicine
