Concept of Marma
Marma are the delicate anatomical parts of the body trauma to which causes death. There are 107 Marma in the body and depending upon the dominant constituents in it, extent of involvement of Marma and severity of the trauma the fate of the patient may vary between instant death to disability and pain. As per the anatomical constituents of the Marma, they are of five types – Mamsa Marma, Sira Marma, Sandhi Marma, Asthi Marma and Snayu Marma. According to the response to the trauma Marma are classwed into jive types – Sadhya Pranahara, Kalantara Pranahara, Vishalyaghna, Vaikalyakara and Rujakara Marma. just like the physical trauma, physiological disturbance at site of Marma produces the fatal results and hence demands quick and rapid therapeutic attention. The study of Marma is important in surgical practice as well as medical practice.
