With the new Central Land Acquisition Act creating confusion over the land to be acquired for the Global Ayurveda Village at Varkala, the government is looking forward for alternative methods for getting the land for setting up the dream village.

The acquisition that had started has been stopped, citing confusion over the new Central Land Acquisition Act. As part of looking at alternative methods, discussions will be held with respective authorities to formulate new methods for acquiring land for setting up the Ayurveda village.

The Global Ayurveda Village was piloted by Sam Pitroda, who identified Ayurveda as one the key areas of potential development for the state. The project is envisaged to be set up on a 70-acre land at an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore.
