Himalaya targets Rs 100 crore revenue from wellness segment
Bengaluru: Herbal health and personal care company Himalaya Drug Co is expanding in the wellness segment and targeting revenue of about Rs 100 crore from it this fiscal and Rs 300 crore in the next three years, TOI reports.
The company, a household name because of its personal care product Neem face wash, will address weight management, stress, joint pain and nutrition as part of the wellness segment.
“Wellness category will be the growth engine. While it is big in developed markets it is fragmented in India and the aim is to create awareness among consumers,” CEO Philipe Haydon said.
Haydon, who has been associated with the company for the past three decades, said the products will be available at supermarkets and drug stores. While no prescription is needed to buy such products, Himalaya will also promote its product through doctors.
The Bengaluru-based company will sell the products in the form of caplets, priced at Rs 130 for 60 pieces. “The prime focus lies in convincing doctors about complementary medicine for treating lifestyle disorder,” Haydon added.
Himalaya operates in pharmaceutical, personal care, nutrition, baby care and animal health beside wellness. About 42% of total revenue is from personal care, 34% from pharma, while baby care contributes about 15%. Animal health and wellness are the smallest business with 5% revenue.
