IMA supports PMC action against Ayurveda docs
The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Ludhiana took strong exception to the statement of the registrar of Punjab Medical Council (PMC), dissociating himself from the decision of the council regarding complaint against a BAMS doctor practicing modern scientific medicine (Allopathy).
Ignoring such norms amounted to quackery. IMA, Ludhiana, held a meeting of office-bearers and supported the PMC for taking action against bachelor of Ayurveda, medicine and surgery (BAMS) doctors practicing in Allopathy.
PMC registrar had created an avoidable controversy as knowing the Supreme Court guidelines would have been enough. IMA also demanded that PMC registrar, chairman of Ayurvedic and Unani Board, should quit or be removed from other posts. Allopathy doctors running hospitals or nursing homes should appoint qualified doctors only with reasonable salaries and should avoid hiring BAMS or others doctors to save money.
