Beijing – India will be setting up a center for yoga and Ayurveda, the Indian traditional medicine in Beijing. Indian ambassador to China Ashok K Kantha was at the Indian embassy in Beijing, inaugurating a four-day yoga workshop called “Yogi Yoga.”
The Indian embassy already has a cultural center where Indian classical music and dances are taught. An Ayush Center will soon be established and run by the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Qualified specialists from India will be nominated by Ayush who in turn will work with established Chinese institutions to promote Indian medicine and yoga.
Earlier in July 2014, India had also conducted its biggest Yoga Summit at Dali in China, which was attended by over 5,000 people. They also recently released the Encyclopedia of Cultural Contacts between the two countries, which can be traced back many centuries. India not only gifted Buddhism to China but also its precious Ayurvedic medicines which became part of the Chinese milieu.
