Khadi introduces ‘Yogasutra’ collection
Riding on the yoga bandwagon, the Khadi & Village Industries Commision (KVIC) has launched a specially designed yoga wear collection made from khadi with brand name ‘Yogasutra’.
To mark the celebration of International Yoga Day on June 21, KVIC will make available the Yogasutra collection – unisex yoga wear top and bottom, a gamchha – cotton napkin and a mat across its retail outlets in Gujarat besides making it available online through e-retailer Amazon.
Speaking on the launch, Sanjay Hedaoo, director of KVIC Gujarat said, “KVIC is always keen to promote Khadi through its innovative usages. Yoga wear is the need of the hour. As a practice, Yoga is perhaps the only stream that does not have specific clothes that would suit the modern practitioner.”
The khadi yoga wear has been designed by an Ahmedabad-based entrepreneur Shailini Sheth Amin, Founder & CEO of Moral Fibre Fabrics and will be available for a price of around Rs 1, 200 for a pair of top and bottom. “KVIC appreciates the initiative of Moral Fibre Fabrics in creating the Yoga wear collection and are happy to promote it,” added Hedaoo.
According to Amin, “Traditionally there has never been a specific costume for yoga. The khadi yoga wear is an innovation that would ensure full comfort to the yoga practitioner and also give a natural feeling while practicing Sadhana or pranayaam. We have initially made 1000 pieces, but looking at the response we feel there will be much demand for it.”
“‘Yogasutra’ is a range of clothes and mats made from hand-woven and hand-spun cotton i.e. khadi and that is created specifically for yoga exercises and are in line with unity and integration that is the spirit of yoga,” she added.
