Stress and fatigue are two factors that each police personnel involved in maintaining law and order in the national Capital experiences every day. Their peculiar work hours, taxing environment and lack of sleep also increase stress levels. The Delhi Police has, hence, turned to the ancient practice of yoga, meditation and Ayurveda to de-stress. The Delhi Police headquarters have planned a series of workshops, especially for the senior police officers. Some 35 officers, including the additional deputy commissioners of police, attended a workshop conducted by a yoga guru who taught them how to cope with such pressure. Police officials, who have a physically and mentally challenging lifestyle, are prone to stress and fatigue, he said, adding that the police officers admitted that the workshop will come in handy to beat stress at work. The Joint Commissioner of Police (Training) Robin Hibu will soon distribute the lecture documented in the form of small booklet or video. The workshop was part of the weekly refresher programme in which officials above the rank of DCP are given a lecture or session on a subject every Saturday.
