President opens BOC-sponsored Ayurveda Hospital at Abimansala III
The Ayurveda Hospital-sponsored by Bank of Ceylon at ‘Abimansala III’ – the wellness resort for the permanently-disabled soldiers in Pangolla, Kurunegala was ceremoniously opened by President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The Ayurveda Hospital comes under the ‘Brave Hearts’ project of the Sri Lanka Army.
The Ayurveda Hospital, which was developed as a therapeutic centre, is equipped to provide all necessary Ayurvedic treatments to residing disabled war heroes. Situated on a 10 acre piece of land near Deduru Oya, Abimansala III can accommodate 50 dependant war heroes.
The Ayurveda Hospital of Abimansala III is a project initiated by the Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) with the noble purpose of providing lifelong care for permanently disabled soldiers who have sacrificed the prime of their youth to achieve a lasting peace in this country. These war heroes, many of them young with many years of life ahead of them are suffering from serious injuries and permanent disabilities and are in need of post injury care for their survival. The prime objective of this project is to identify and heal their minds and to make them feel cared by society.
Since its inception, the Bank of Ceylon spearheaded the providing of support to the economic and social wellbeing of the country. The Abimansala Ayurvedha hospital is one of the Corporate Social Responsibility projects of Bank of Ceylon assisting in ensuring the wellbeing of Army men.
