President visits international exhibition promoting Ayurveda system in Sri Lanka
The biennial Ayurveda educational exhibition and trade fair, 2nd Ayur Ex Kandy 2014 held at the City Centre in the world heritage city of Kandy from 24th July was organized jointly by the Department of Ayurveda, Central Province and the Central Provincial Council.
Ayur Ex Kandy 2014 provided a common platform to meet Ayurvedic and traditional medical practitioners, entrepreneurs, academics, students, healthcare professionals, researchers and civil society members. There were more than 100,000 visitors including delegates from 20 countries. Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited the Ayurveda educational exhibition zone and the stalls observing many local and international Ayurveda products that were on display.
Ayur Ex Kandy 2012 was an event of high impact in the history of contemporary Ayurveda due to the overwhelming response and support it received from all stakeholders of Ayurveda and the public. This edition of Ayur Ex Kandy, under the theme ‘Traditional System of Medicine for Health &Wealth’ consisted of more than 120 stalls. There were 8 stalls on local Ayurveda system, 39 stalls from six foreign countries, and another 39 stalls displayed by the students of universities and other institutions of Ayurveda medicine.
