Proposal for entry to Ayurveda course through GCET in 2016
Admissions to the bachelor’s in Ayurveda medicine and surgery programme too are proposed to be carried out in 2016-17 in Goa based on the GCET score.
Bharatiya Sanskruti Prabodhini’s Gomantak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya and Research Centre based in Shiroda which is under the state’s health department, has now applied to the state government for permission to carry out admissions through the GCET in 2016 and waiting for the state government’s approval.
The GCET was originally introduced in Goa for admissions to the medicine, dentistry and engineering professional degree seats and over the years admissions to the homeopathy and pharmacy courses too were brought under the test’s ambit. In 2015, admissions to the degree courses in allied health science offered at the Goa Medical College and the BSc in nursing course were also held through GCET in addition to the other courses. Officials are of the view that carrying out admissions to all professional degree courses through a single test, allows students to directly seek admission to the next best option available to them once the merit list is draw by the directorate of technical education based on GCET scores. It saves students aspiring for a professional degree course seat in Goa the trouble of going through different admission processes for different courses.
