Shripad Naik inaugurates Regional Ayurveda Research Institute for Gastro Intestinal Disorder
Guwahati: Union Minister of State, Ministry of AYUSH, Shripad Yesso Naik inaugurated the new building of Regional Ayurveda Research Institute for Gastro-Intestinal Disorder (RARIGID) at the institution premises in Borsojai.
After the inauguration of the building, the minister addressed the national workshop on activities and contribution of CCRAS (The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences) in the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati.
In his speech, Naik said, “India has got a huge traditional medicinal heritage in the world and now have a special status in terms of an indigenous system of traditional health care practices. The CCRAS, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India has been engaged in Research and Developmental activities in the North-Eastern states since May 1971 for extending their healthcare service”.
He also said that recently in view of further development in the northeast region, CCRAS has set up 20 Ayurvedic healthcare centers in different parts of Assam, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh and these centers are immensely contributing in catering to the health care services in the remote districts of the NE region. “The center in Guwahati will soon start IPD services as Rs. 1.5 crores have been sanctioned for the purpose”, he said. He also emphasized to encourage farmers to cultivate more widely-used medicinal plants.
On this occasion of the inauguration of the national workshop, two books by CCRAS and a web-based online survey study on “Knowledge attitude and practice study of Gastro-intestinal disorders among Ayurveda and Allopathic fraternity” were also released by the Minister.
