Year on, patients await Ayurvedic medicines at hospital

Even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi had created a separate ministry of AYUSH to manage the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy over a year ago, the AYUSH wing of PL Sharma District Hospital in Meerut has been turning back patients due to unavailability of medicines. The AYUSH wing was established at the hospital in November 2014 and receives at least 100 patients daily. However, medicines are not being distributed at the centre for the past, nearly one year. Doctor’s say over 35,000 patients had been turned back so far at the hospital.
