A few days later, early in the morning, I get a call from Uma. I could sense a smile in her voice.
‘Guess what?’
‘Your boss is giving you that promotion.’
‘Hey, how did you guess?’
‘It’s a favourite theory of mine: the moment you start doing something positive for yourself, life returns the favour. Wait and watch: more happiness is on its way to you!’
‘Oh that’s so wonderful of you to say. Listen, if you’re not too busy, can I come over? I would like to sit with you and fill out that quiz. Then we’ll talk doshas!’
‘Over steaming hot dosas,’ I offer. ‘Come on over. You’ll love the chutney.’
