My childhood memories of Ayurved are of my grandmother giving me long pepper burnt and mixed with honey for a persistent cough, and my mother putting asafoetida paste on my navel for stomach cramps. Anyway, whatever done is done. Now I want to detox my system of all the toxins that have accumulated in the recent past and get reconnected to nature. I opt for Ayurved – as usual. I may have a long journey ahead with these herbal mixes, pills and oils, but I know that I am on the right path.

Today while opening my box of Ayurvedic medicines, I realised that yet again I will save myself from the surgeon’s scalpel. For the last more than a year I have been suffering from painful shoulder, which has been diagnosed as shoulder impingement syndrome. The orthopaedic surgeon has suggested to cut open my shoulder and shave off some muscle and some bone. I don’t particularly relish the idea. I am aware that I should not have ignored the pain when it started. I should not have waited till my shoulder got jammed. I was busy running around getting the pilot of my maiden web-series shot. Too much stress, odd working hours and wrong diet had to cause some damage, which they did.
