Crying is the only expression a small baby has for various needs. Crying may denote discomfort which may be of too much heat or cold or the nappy or other clothes are not comfortable or the air in the room is too stuffy. You have to learn to develop sensitivity for that.

A new born is a being whose senses do not work properly as yet but nevertheless she/he has all basic needs like us− hunger, thirst and excretion. A baby cannot talk but expresses herself brilliantly in various ways of crying. Young mothers have to learn about different needs of their little ones and make best of their efforts to understand baby’s specific language. In the former times, with extended family system, the elderly of the family told the young mothers the traditional wisdom about all this.
