Everyday Zen : A Matter of Perspective
This morning, I woke up with a headache. I hadn’t really figured out the cause when my mobile rang… it was my daughter on a FaceTime call from Canada. She saw my scrunched up face and said she’d call me later and that I should go back to sleep. It was nice of her to be concerned, but I had to get up and go about my day anyway, and I told her so.
We got talking and suddenly she remarked, “With all the reading and writing you do about Buddha and mythology and the rest of the spiritual stuff, you are not as Zen as you should be.” That woke up completely! My instant response was, “I am absolutely Zen about life, about relationships and everything else, its home that I’m not Zen about. It is all this that gets my goat!” I said gesturing with my arms.
