Vegetables are beneficial
I am not saying that vegetarian food can’t be unhealthy. In fact, vegetarians also appear to have bad (lower low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, and lower rates of hypertension and Type 2 diabetes than non vegetarians.
But in a study conducted, it was noted that the risk of most cancers was 20-50 per cent lower in those with a high versus a low consumption of whole grains. Furthermore, vegetarians tend to have a lower body mass index and lower overall cancer rates. Soy products when consumed are known to lower risk of heart disease, stroke, cancer and osteoporosis. In addition, the longest living populations in the world have very little meat in their diets and largely eat whole grains, fruits and vegetables. All in all, vegetarian diet tends to be high in antioxidants and phytochemicals, substances which remove toxins from the body and promote health.
