Former Secretary, Department of AYUSH, S Jalaja (IAS) is an international expert on Ayurvedic Principles. After retiring she runs an NGO which carry out activities that lead to holistic understanding of life and its purpose, and improvement of quality of life of the people in particular. She chats with Ayurved Sutra about her stint with AYUSH (The Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) and the steps required to promote and propagate Ayurveda.
What are the hurdles that the world of Ayurveda is facing today?
There are quite a number of problems Ayurveda has been facing from within and outside and it is really important for us to address these as Ayurveda offers Cure for All. We have not been able to use Ayurveda to the optimum. Ayurveda is very useful in curing problems like Chickungunya, Ebola viruses etc. It offers solutions and cure all the new diseases that western world is not able to cope up with. Few important points are:
Believability: Ayurveda is unable to produce evidence based results. Modern Scientific Research using Ayurveda has not seen the light of the day. Though Ayurveda does not need any evidence but you have to tell people to believe in it.
