Childhood Obesity : An Ayurvedic Approach to Sthaulya
Obesity or Sthaulya is the most common nutritional disorder in the present era. Childhood obesity is also on rise. An estimated 22 million children under five and 170 million children (aged < 18 years) are estimated to be overweight worldwide. The prevalence of obese children aged 6 -11 years is becoming a global problem and increasingly extending into the developing world. In some countries the number of overweight children has trebled since 1980 and similar doubling rates are being observed worldwide, including in developing countries and regions where an increase in Westernization of behavioral and dietary lifestyles is evident.
