During this century, there was a large spread of Ayurvedic treatments for sensuous appeasement directed towards leisure and holidays. This however is not the spread of authentic wisdom of Ayurveda in its multidimensional form. I was always impressed by Charaka’s concept of pragya aparadha or the intellectual error. This great physician and scholar very rationally put forward the view that the cause of our troubles is pragya aparadha and we make the intellectual errors due to lack of three factors: dhi (knowledge), dhriti (restraint) and smriti (memory).
