Withholding and Withdrawing of Life Support V/s Euthanasia
Withholding and withdrawing of life support measures is highly case specific, context specific and situation specific medical decision, which is not amenable to cook book recipe type guidelines. No two patients are same in totality. For the treating physician, withholding or withdrawing is a matter of consent, negative or positive, by the patient or by his surrogates -where the patient is not competent to give valid consent. It is certainly NOT Euthanasia as the intent is not to terminate life.
