Being overweight is a state in which one’s weight exceeds a limit based on height. Obesity is a condition involving excessive fatness, either generalized or localized. In most people, both the conditions tend to parallel each other. The condition of overweight can be correlated with medovriddhi. Ayurveda treatment has got 5 divisions in this context.
The word “Medovriddhi” is the combination of two Sanskrit words “Meda” and “Vriddhi”.
“Meda” means fat of body and “Vriddhi” literally means the growth, or increase. Ayurveda considers that the human body is made up of seven body tissues (saptha dhatu) and medodhatu is one among them.
